Terminology

When I was a teenager, I would say I supported "democratic socialism."  Then I found out that Western countries are not democratic and that capitalism with welfare is not socialism.1 Eventually, I realized global democracy is necessary and that basic income is superior to welfare.  Now I say I support global direct democracy and basic-incomecapitalism.

In Laugier's Martyrs (2008), the character Mademoiselle equates lack of belief in God to atheism.  However, lack of belief in God could also equate to uncertainty in God's existence (i.e. agnosticism).  Mademoiselle uses the term 'atheist' when the term 'agnostic' would be more precise.

Atheism is an extension of sophism.  Atheists are only interested in lying to keep others oppressed.  Agnostics deal with real thought.
